The 24-hr Saginaw Bay Doublehanded is an opportunity to participate in a challenge for double handed yachts (those sailed with two persons). The event is designed to minimize the logistics of delivering boats to and from the start and finish locations. It also has the flexibility to start in 3 locations: Tawas, Bay City, or Caseville. A time limit of 24 hours allows the event to be completed in one weekend.
The aim of the 24-hr Doublehanded is to encourage the development of safe sailing capability with limited crew. The crew will be allowed to have third person on board under the press rule.
Entrants are directed to the official Huron Challenge website, www.huronchallenge.org, for electronic registration, payment and downloading of all forms required to complete the entry and registration process. In addition, the website contains up-to-date information on the Race including any official changes to the Notice of Race and/or Sailing Instructions, ratings and class splits.
The Race Committee must receive the following information before August 13:
- Completed Entry Form. The Entry Form can be found at www.baycityyachtclub.com or can be requested from the Race Comittee.
- $60 Entry Fee, in US funds. Payment may be cash or check payble to Huron Yacht Club.
- A Certificate of Insurance that verifies that the Skipper has marine liability insurance in force on the boat entered in the 24-hour Saginaw Bay Doublehanded.
Acceptance of entries including registration fee and the required documents after the registration deadline will be at the sole discretion of the Race Committee and subject to a late fee payment of $25.
The Skipper of each boat or a representative with the Skipper’s written authorization shall register the boat at the times and locations listed in paragraph 9, or by making special arrangements with the Race Committee.
